Dump valve
« on: 06 April 2005, 23:07 »
Hi all, I would appreciate any information on dumpvalves. If i replace mine on my MK4 GTi should I fit a recirculating or atmospheric type and how easy are they to fit?

easy to fit mate.  recirc or atmosphere depends on the engine code, later engines don't like atmospheric ones as the ecu thinks there is an air leek somewhere and will put your car in limp mode

i started a couple of threadson this topic last week, will be easy to find some info in there, i'm getting mine replaced tomorrow (mk4 gti t 150bhp), i'm opting for the forge dv006 re-circ system to cut out that loud rasping noise u get from some atmospheric types which i don't want, will let you know how i get on.

Unfortunately when you start playing with other parts of the car and increasing airflow.. you still get the chavvy psshhht noise from a recirc when driving hard.
Still.. makes the saxo brigade think twice about trying to race when i overtake them

just had forge dv006 fitted to my non-chip gti t 150bhp, no whoosh noises as yet, can't say notice any performance difference, felt bit speedy on way home but more likely as i was getting low on gas.  forge unit should last me lot longer than stock diaphragm one
