CAT C motor - would you run one ?

We've got a 51 plate Zafira as a family car that was a repaired cat 'C' , i bought it with an engineers report stating that the damage was not structural and mostly cosmetic on one side of the car.
2 years on and it just flew through it's mot and is one the best car's i've ever owned.

Im not a fan of written off cars how ever cheap they look and some off them arent that cheap plus if you dont see what the damage was to the car you just dont know how well it was repaired.I was behind a Focus ST yesterday it was a 55 plate with a load of young chavs in it the car wouldnt drive in a straight line crabbing like mad down the road like a old mini must have been a damaged car repaired bad...

what's wrong with a late Mondeo Titanium X Estate? Loads of car for the money, I had one as a company car. Loved it.

As long as you know it's a Cat C and you pay the right price I don't see a problem. My dad has a Cat C 307cc and it's fine.

My Golf MK4 1.6 SR was in a crash recently (wifey driving, no-one hurt) A Zafira hit her on a round about, and damaged the drivers door (small dent) drivers wing (scrape and dent) front bumper (smashed) drivers wing mirror (case cracked).

The Golf was/is an R reg with 100k on the clock with full dealer history.Insurance valued it at £1,200 and wrote it off. I bought the car back for £156.00. So I kept the car, and got a cheque for £944.00

Now, we were fully comp, and as the car is still driveable, the insurance have told us that until we get the work done, it will be insured 3rd party only.

"nd hand parts have come in at £150.00 and respraying & fitting has come in at £375.00.

Once the work has been carried out (next week) I take the car for an MOT at a designated MOT centre where they assess the repairs and re mot it.
