My old man had an x-type 2.0D. Spent more time in the dealer than at home BUT he did love the way it drove. He now has an Alfa GT JTD BLackline and that is more reliable, faster and better built. Go Figure. :grin:

You looked at Alfa 156 JTD Sportswagens Chuff? A lot of car for the money and the leather seats are lush.

Sorry to burst the bubble.

They are mega both to look at and drive etc vs a VAG oil burner but.....

They'll break and both you and your new employer will be upset

They won't do 60 mpg

They won't be easy to fix

They will be a right c11nt to get spare parts for

The spare parts that you will be able to get will be costly

Stick with the 1.9 TDI VAG mate - you know it makes sense  :smiley:

Have you tried looking for a car which is cat C and requires repairing?

Preferably front end as with most VW's its bolt on bolt off.
