broken clutch cable????????

today my clutch on my mk2gti went straight to the floor,on inspection the clutch cable is not broken??could it be the gearbox?.can anybody help me please.sifter

hi i would check the pedal box they sometimes break also i have had the push rod that operates the pressure plate goes straight through the plate and i have had were the arm from the clutch gable on the gear box end were it goes in the box that mechanism breaks
