after buying a mk4 golf about a month ago and hoining the gti forum my mind has started wandering and i'm thinking about buying a mk2 golf gti as a side project

i dont know much about these cars and wouldnt know what was good and what is not. can anyone tell me which year and model to look for and a ruuf guide of price for one in decent condition.

also will this be an expensive thing to do

a mint 92 J plated 3dr oak green 16v in totally original spec with all the factory options and a VWFSH :wink:

Here we go again !!

Nothing wrong with a 8 valve and in my mind you're more likely to find a good one as they are more common (these days anyway).

Plus I always hear of how people looking to buy a 16v end up driving 4 or 5 before finding a good one through poor setup etc.

Around 750-1000 will get you something worth playing with i'd say - and i'd only stipulate 90 spec and as much history as you can get on a nice clean low mileage car when you're looking.
