All VW Delayed orders
« on: 15 June 2011, 20:31 »
I was at my local VW garage yesterday picking up some new plates for my reg transfer.
I got talking to the manager and was telling him about my mate and his VW Passat CC.
He's had it on order since September 10 and still hasn't got it.
It looks like it might be here for September 11 if it doesn't get put back again and again.
Any way he asked if I knew the reason behind it and all I could say was it was due to VW holding back on production. His answer was it was all down to the Euro, apparently VW are selling a high percentage of ghe production to the Chinese were they are getting a good return ie high profits.
How true would you say his answer was....

More likely to be a combination of double digit growth in sales accross many countries (High demand on production) and better free cash flow (looking at the trading statement). The Business is in very good shape, I guess the slower markets are allocated orders accordingly.....

I saw some production volume figures which suggest VW's deliveries are up 40% on pre-recession (2007) figures, so I'd agree that it's high demand on available production capacity. This won't have been helped by component supply issues.

Deliveries to china have almost tripled in that time whereas the UK has grown by only a few percent. I know where I'd be concentrating my efforts.

They cut back on parts supply in 2009 and the companys supplying either cut right back or closed. Getting them to ramp back up to such high demand at the current level has been a problem, probably as these companys are worried VW land them in the poop again.
Also parts from Japan are hard to source for reasons im sure we all know.
VW deliverys since 3rd quarter 2009 have been bad at around 7 months.

I makes you wonder how VW sell any cars with the reported stupid months and months build delays? So VW don't know there is supposidly a world recession still on so they should be supplying the customer with the product they ordered as soon as possible else they loose the sale?

Talking of number plates how many of you guys have Euro plates that have been mounted correctly? I have the standard plates but if I decided to fit Euro plates the screws where they have been mounted are only 30mm from the edge so it would screw into the Euro sign. I haven't taken the plates of yet to see if there are only 2 fixed mounting positions.

Sorry if I've asked this before but I'm getting older by the day?

I wouldn't wait a year (or 7 months for that matter). Madness.

It's only a VW at the end of the day, not a Ferrari!!!

I have them, but they are stuck on, no mounting screws
