Bought it, no tax or test but will sail through an MOT, its in bloody good condition with a brand new roof. All for the small sum of £1000  :laugh:

slightly off topic but why were these still built in '91 when production of mk1's stopped in '83? it has always puzzled me because technically its a mk2 (or 1.5 :undecided:)

VW ceased general production of the MK1 golf (tin top) in 1983 although continued to produce them in 5 door only for South Africa as a Citi Golf.

The MK1 Cab was always built at the karmann coachworks production line.  Production of these did not cease until 1993 as they did not bother designing a mk2 version (wouldn't have been much point). In other words they continued with the mk1 Cab until the launch of the mk3 which by then had a convertible version too.

Damn straight they should of.. but then the MK2 was a good car too and had a lot of similarities with the MK1...  It's the MK3 they should have never bothered with.  :grin:
