engine starts then cuts out ?????

hi just wondering if any one has had this problem its usually on a morning but doesn't happen all the time ,i turn the key engine starts and then suddenly cuts out after several attempts and keeping my foot on the accelerator it starts any input would be grateful as my neighbours will be complaining about the noise at 5.15am

This happened to me in my old 8v, turned out to be the ignition switch. Happened in the VR yesterday at the Airport

This gets asked and covered in the Mk3 section most weeks so do a search on 'cutting out' and there are pages and pages of answers.

Isn't that what happens when the immobiliser kicks in? Starts for a second or 2 before cutting out.......
