Front Fog Lights
« on: 13 June 2011, 19:57 »
Hi all,
I'm just wondering if anyone knows of any walkthroughs for mk3's regarding front foglights.
I am looking into wiring them into my mk3 1.6gl, but not sure if its easy to do, also, i only have the single rear foglight switch atm.

Many thanks

having done this not so long ago, you need a loom that goes from the plug just above the radiator to everything else (mine was faulty so i built my own loom up using the connections)

you need a "52" relay (i'm not 100% sure on this) which goes in the fues box inside the car, and then you need THIS which will pluug into the wiring loom and then enable the front fogs to work,

as i said i made my own loom so wired it up slightly different but it works exactly the same way

You'll obviously need a new switch as well

Installing front fogs on a mk3 is literally plug and play if you buy the lighting loom. As mentioned it's the entire wiring section from the round connector beside the radiator. Then just swap the switch for one with front fogs (although you can still use a non-front fog switch by pulling it out partially) Not ideal though.
Looms normally go for about £20-£25 and switch from £10-£15. Shame you didn't post this sooner as ive just sold a load of suitable bits on ebay.
Infact, i may have spare foglight loom available next week if you still need one, it just depends on whether i get the chance to install my uprated lighting loom this weekend.
