urgent help! wipers wont turn off. not stalks or relay!
please help me out guys

it was wazzing it down earlier, in fact it still is. i had the wipers on intermittent, then constant. went to switch them off, and they wont! it will go into the faster speed, but wont turn off stuck in the lower speed

i pulled the relay and obviously that cut them off. but i replaced the relay with a known working item and they still wont go off.
i then pulled off the wheel and all the stalks , connections. and they still wont turn off!

what can it be guys? im doing a long trip for work thursday so need it sorting

Do you have a multi meter?
If you do start tracing the Voltages from the motor backwards?
Sounds like the pins from the steering colume are touching i.e the thing that the stalks plug into it?
Give a the wires at the back of the black plug a wiggle and see if it frees up any unwanted contact for check for unwanted touching of cross wires.

i took the stalks off completely. so it was just the plugs then wires to the fusebox.  they still wont stop..  if i take out the relay it does stop.

surely this only leaves the fusebox?

i would say you have a short either at fusebox or wires from stalks to fuse box

could the rain have caused this? it was possibly a little wet around that area

yep water causing a short. if its drys out and works fine then you know your looking for damaged insulation or damp plug  etc look foe green gunk on plugs and fusebox and check and trace wiring from stalks and motor

Yeah as above, you've got an insulation resistance problem, and the water getting in creates a short. It must be behind fuseboard if removing switch etc doesn't cure it..

Could be that the relay is stuck open! Try a spare if you have one.
