Fitting BMC CDA to 16v
« on: 12 June 2011, 14:37 »
I want to replace my K&N inducation kit as all the metal work has gone rusty and the previous owner didn't do a very good job at fitting the pipework as the oil breather etc is a bit loose in the cone.

I want to replace it with a BMC CDA filter and found this picture off this forum from a while back

Believe it was posted by the user eightyeightmph

What i was wondering is:

a) how did you fix the sensor into the back of the unit?
b) where does your oil breather pipe go?

I believe he drilled a hole for the sensor.

 I kinda gathered he would of drilled a hole for the sensor, i was wondering how it stayed in place, as there's no fixings for it, it's more of a tight push into rubber that secures it in place, whereas the back of the BMC is hard plastic i can't imagine it fitting very tightly in place. Maybe could use a blob of silicone to secure it in place??

i done mine like this its not a cda but similar

basically i used the original rubber thing off the original piper x filter which was on it then added that into a metal section in the pipework hope this helps the other oil pipe is now running through the catch tank

cheers for that, so i guess the inlet sensor can be ran anywhere along the intake line, well at least i should be able to jig something up for it to work

I think i'll just stick a breather on the end rather than running it into a catch tank, do you ever get much over flow into the catch tank?

yeah it will work pretty much anywhere its only measuring the intake air temp as for the breather instead of the catch tank i think you can only do that on the isv side as thats sucking in. The other is being sucked by the air intake and needs to be circulated if im correct im sure someone can correct me if im wrong. I havn't had any oil deposited in the catch tank yet well very little anyway but its still better than it going into the throttle body

Ah yes, because your using the samco pipework there's no feed for it back into your throttle body.

Understand it all now  thanks for the help

i have got it going into the intake again cant quite see it on my pic but underneath next to the throttle body i have machine a 20mm tube with a lip on it and siliconed this into the pipework then from the catch tank a pipe onto that, but what the catch tank is doing is leaving any unwanted oil going up into the throttle body if that makes sense lol
