I'm trying to find a air leak on my GTI 16V but I'm not sure of the best way to go about it?

I watched a guy test for air leaks on my old orver once.....
He got a spray tin of easy start, he sprayed parts of the intake, if there was a leak it would suck in the easy start and make the engine rev.
