ACC - effect on steering
« on: 11 June 2011, 09:27 »
Guys,
Can someone with ACC confirm if the ACC in sport changes the steering feel noticably or just a little bit? Is that even noticable when moving steering wheel on a stationary vehicle?

I've had some issues with my "repaired" car and at the moment there is no difference between normal/comfy and sport mode when moving stationary. The steernig wheel moves easily left and right. When driving I detect some resistance in sport but all very feeble.

I have not driven the Golf for so long I can't remember how it should be:(

Thanks

In my mum's old Scirocco, I'm sure the Sport setting had an effect on the steering, although I can't remember if it effected it stationary or not. I would of thought it would be only as your moving :)

On mine it feels like it reduces the amount of assistance at lower speeds adding weight to the steering, but not feel.

You used to be able to set the amount of assistance with vag-com on Mk5's and I had the settings tweaked on our old Passat when they changed the rack under warranty. Not sure whether it can be done on the 6 though.

On mine it makes a big difference to the amount of assistance. Nice. The difference is very apparent...

In comfort and normal modes it's light but when in sport mode the steering feels notably heavier - in a good way

Especially useful when you drop the cogs pre-corner and unleash the fury of 200bhp and 340lbs ft torque through sh!te tyres on a crap road

There is no difference in steering heft at parking speeds but you will notice more steering weight as you move from 'comfort' through to 'normal' and then on to 'sport'. Thus a logical progression.

I thought it only added weight to the steering feel in sport mode?  :undecided:
