Agreed, the Cupra R really appealed to me because of the price and the power but the interior is so bad.

Still, the FR is a proper bargain but the price will drop like a stone the minute you get in it!!!!

Nice price and spec, shame its as attractive as a fat birds sweaty arse crack.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

Good on you Andy..... Looks like you've got yourself a great deal and a fantastic car. I might even go for one of those myself at some point. Would look good with the BBS on
Don't hang the flags out just yet Martin! I'm not jumping ship so everyone on here will be stuck with my irreverant irrelevant waffle a bit longer.
If I was looking at a new or nearly new GTI/D I think I'd be plucking the moth eaten chequebook out of the dusty corner and heading to a SEAT dealer though.
Hurdy's thread here shows exactly how much VW is ripping everyone off for on optional extras: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,30729.0.html
Very nice. And for that money - great value.

If I wasn't so hooked into GTIs I'd have one.

Maybe when I'm older...
Yeah, it'd be a great car for a mini mid life crisis in Lumina Orange!

Aaah, painting pictures with words Kevin!

Tell you what though, there's a second hand GTI in my local VW dealer with a price ticket of just shy of £30k on it. I'd rather drive a sweaty arse crack than pay £30k for a second hand Golf!!

The plastic around the dash is all wrong.  I also hate how the have put the MFD to the left of the rev counter and speedo, just doesn't look right!

Outside it looks pretty good though.

It's a bit like a really hot girl who has a pain in ass personality, you could deal with it for wee while and enjoy the perks but after a bit you'd get sick of her and look for a girl with the complete package!!

Yeah but in it's standard form the GTI is like a decent looking girl who is high maintenance and doesn't give you any unless you buy her something. (Double pun aimed at both the lowly power output of the GTI and also the fact that VW can't seem to build any!)

(Apologies to the ladies that this metaphor is presented from the male point of view.)

The SEAT is a great car. Yes the plastics inside are a bit cheaper, and it's not the prettiest interior, but it is a great car and it's very practical for a hatch. Exterior wise I also think it's quite nice looking. Much better than any offerings from Ford for example.

Interesting stuff. I'm a bit taken with Skodas at the moment. Would love a green Fabia VRS.

It was the blind spots that killed the MK2 leon for me. I can warm to the potatohead man looks in certain colours. I just could not get away with the blind spots created by the front quarterlights and the rear pillars. Apart from that im a huge SEAT fan always will be. I defected to SEAT when VW lost the plot with the mk3 Golfs and only came back with the Mk5 in 2005. VW have imo got gready and have cut corners were as an Engineer i think count but covered this up to please the masses and blind jounos with touchy feely plastics  SEAT dont seem to have done this when i have had a good look at them which i respect them for.
