Ok so I took my car to my dad yesterday and we spent a good few hours trying to locate this other sensor. Going by the image you posted above of your engine to start with we couldn't find it at all. So we used the Volkswagen diagram and looked at the two places it was suggesting and it wasn't there!

My oil filter screws directing into the block so it wasn't there and it wasn't at the side of the engine like under the timing belt area like it was directing in the picture.

I honestly have no idea.

All I did was replace the blue one with a black one I also got from GSF to see if that made a difference and it is now slightly worse so I've got to change that back to the blue one.

On another note, I did change my air filter for what looks like the first time in it's life (the filter was literally black xD) and now my car seems to have more acceleration...although that could just be me thinking it has 

regarding the sensor though, no idea what to try anymore

Hi,sorry to butt in but i have just read the problems you were having with the 1.8bar oil pressure location although it was a while ago. Im having exact same problem as you did. I have a Golf mk3 1.4 multipoint AEX engine code. What i noticed on trogs  pic of the back of the engine is its slightly different. I think its an AEX single point injection in the pic and mine and yours are the multipoint  AEX engines. I may be wrong though. Say,did you eventually find the location for the 1.8bar oil pressure switch. Just brought my car back from an independent vw garage to find the location and they were baffled. They looked at the side of the timing belt covers as in the diagram but found nothing. Its listed as having two oil pressure sensors even at VW stealerships. Personally i dont think its got one. I just changed the one on the left of the head on mine and it made no diff. Oil light/buzzer driving me insane.

OP.With you aying that the oil light was on nearly all the time and that a new sensor makes it worse or has little difference i would be doing an oil pressure check first.It sounds to me as id your engine may be worn out so that you have low pressure.If your air filter was filthy it says to me that the car was'nt serviced properly which may also mean cheap oil was used with few changes.

It could also come down to a worn out/faulty oil pump but my guess would be a blocked pick-up pipe/strainer which is common on high mileage old cars.

Over the weekend I'm planning on replacing a few parts on my Golf 1.4 'L'.

I changed the oil pump and one of the pressure sensors around 2-3weeks ago and although my oil light does come on its not as much as before (virtually all the time) now it only comes on under around 1,500-2,000rpm so I'm guessing its the 'other' pressure sensor that I need to change as I only changed the one. 

Here is a picture of my engine with the sensor highlighted in red. Does anyone know where any other oil pressure sensors are on my car?

And which one I need to buy, here is a list from GSF Car Parts.

Secondly, I changed my headlights to Mk4 style lights a while back and have noticed people flashing me. I've worked it out that one of my bulbs is flashing! When I stood in front of the car the other day I noticed it flickering, is this a sign of a dead bulb?

Do you know where I could pick one of these up? What bulb is this? Front Fog? :/ I dunno
