Could this be the clutch going? Ill nbeed to check the service history which does go back to 91' to see if it has been changed but could this be a sign its going

other threads ive read could be something like the engine mounts?

Could be anything really, juddering means something is moving..do u feel it through pedals, or seat, or dash or whole car etc?? Have a mate watch engine whilst you try to move off in 1st with h/brake on, if mounts are going you'll see movement. If you've got no mates rock the engine by hand-it shouldn't move

feels more liek the pedals and its only when your pulling away after that its fine, just seems like everythign that can go wrong is going wrong at the moment

To be fair mines just started juddering slightly in 1st/reverse, when moving off, not noticeable at other times/speeds. I've just done an 02a conversion, using a new sachs vr6 clutch, so I think maybe the 2nd hand flywheel I used may have benefitted from a skim/reface.. I noticed it from the word go with the new box, and have checked everything else over a few times now, so am pretty sure its my fly. It could well be the clutch/fly in your case as well..?

Try going up hill and trying to pull in a higher gear, if it does the same thing its the clutch on its way out

so basically go up hill in 3rd or somehting and see what happens? I did get in cotnact with a mte who is a mechanic and he said If i supply the part he would charge £120 to fit it he did also mention to look at uprating the flywheel as well which wasnt a bad shout

I really hope its not the clutch as I need to replace my bloody exhaust as well

Well i'd say pull of in second rather than 3rd.  Maybe try on a flat road first too.  How high is your biting point for the clutch?

Also when cruising in top gear, how far  do you have to put the clutch pedal down before it starts slipping?

That will only indicate if friction plate is worn, not necessarily warped, unless that is another symptom when worn (juddery)? It could have a warped fly, and the clutch still be ok, not splitting hairs just saying its a possibility.. If its something that has progressed it most likely is the clutch rather than fly, but my clutch is brand new, so more likely the flywheel in my case...
