Creaking Noise

I've recently come across a creaking/grinding kinda noise. I happens at slow speeds, usually when coming up to lights or parking. The shockers definitely aren't rubbing on the tyre. It happens on every revolution of the wheel, do you think its more likely to be a driveshaft / cv joint problem? I cant seem to hear the noise when going over 10mph, had a look under the car everything seems ok. Ive also just changed my wheels from audi tt 17's to amg 18's, pretty wide and fitted with adaptors, been told by me old man that the driveshafts under pressure, not convinced myself. Any help would be appreciated as im pretty stumped and would like to do a cheap fix myself without getting raped at a garage. Cheers

I would go for wheel bearing before drive shaft....

but surely if it was bearing it would happen all the time?

i had this couple weeks ago. turned out to be the front bushes that were shot to pieces.

strut top barings?

you mean strut mounts? nah cant be that. may well be those bushes, had a look and they look pretty shot lol, could it not be a cv joint then?

I sometimes get a strange kind of noise on mine when on full lock moving very slowly for example parking up etc sounds like a kind of rub noise only seems to have started tho since I changed the discs and pads on fron a few weeks ago though! almost sounds like disc catching caliper very slightly or something? cant see anything obvious under there and dont sound like a drive shaft issue or bearing as had a front bearing changed quite recently along with full check over under the front end etc

Is it sort of a high pitched whaling/ creaking noise

I had a high pitched type noise when under 10mph on my car not so long ago, turned out the rear axel bushes were f**ked causing the rear brake pads to rub this had warn down the pad to what was pretty much the metal on one side causing the disk to rub on the little lip of metal. Which in turn was making the noise.

thats exactly what a vw mechanic said to me today! bought some bushes from work just incase, £4 each cant go wrong. The sound is like a dry cv joint sound if you know what i mean? like the dry bearings are rubbing against eachother. I can feel the creak under the footwell to. I just realised the tread on the front o/s ( the side thats making the noise) was the wrong way round so obviously that cant be helping, got that changed today and repacked the cv boot, noise is still there...! dont think its anything bad just very embarrasing and annoying!
