2.0 gti over fueling?

I recently bought a mk 4 2.0 GTI and it has a couple of niggles any advice would be grateful.

1st and main one, every couple of days the the rpm will pick up on its own to around 2000 hold then settles which isnt a big problem whilst driving but it must continue when i turn the engine off as it takes a lot of turning over before it splutters into life. Apparently the car was just serviced with new leads and plugs before i bought it but he used iridium plugs which i know from owning a couple of highly tuned japs are over rated especially for standard tune cars could they have anything to do with it?

2nd the drivers door handle, when i open it i pull it once it clicks then twice to open? this is every time very strange to me but maybee you know better.

Im a new member but not a new golf fan previously owning a mk1 gti,mk2 gti,mk3 cabby,and now this :smiley:
like i say any advice will be gratefully received.

problem is getting more frequent now   (HELP)???
