It baffles me why they ever used the stupid clip system! Thought I fixed a problem at the bottom of the intercooler and then find that the top connection is causing a boost leak!

So today's job was to whip off the bumper, take the driver's side headlight out and then remove the offending pipes, clean then up then re fit them. Luckily the seals on the pipes were ok. But due to the stupid clips the connecting pipe had managed to work it's self loose. I forgot to get a picture of how it all was before I started but I got a couple to show where the problem was and the part that was causing it.

There is a bit of pipe that sits between the 2 connections. That is where the clips had come loose causing a boost leak.

The connecting pipe and seals all cleaned up.

All back together nice and tight. Just hope the clips hold together a bit better this time.

go silicone

You still don't over come the stupid clip problem though.  All aftermarket solutions in terms of boost pipes still use the clip system.

You need an FMIC to eliminate this problem on the 130TDI

Well I just got home from work and the pipe is back to how it was yesterday so I need to find some kind of solution :(

With silicon it will be jubilee clips. Surely they are better?

How would you secure it to the intercooler though?   You wouldn't create a good enough seal  :undecided:

Apparently there is an adaptor you can get from SFS. Failing that the turbo revs intercooler has different connections on the intercooler allowing for jubilee clips.

I had the SFS hose and that still used the OEM clip system into the intercooler

Only way I know of is aftermarket throughout
