You can get fixed rate if you look around enough.  There are a couple of tricks you can do to get a better rate too.

Luckily both mine and Fiancees parents are pretty well off so they will more than likely help with the deposit, its just finding someone who will actually offer us anything. Cant imagine what its like for ppl on their own or with no help

Im on my own and i earn what i think is a reasonable income. Its still pretty impossible.

I rent but live in a village as town centre rents are too expensive, I pay £740 for a huge 2 bedroom bungalow with a huge garden. The added bonus is no crime & no pikey kids damaging ur car lol
