Bad golf

as im doing an overhaul on my mates GTI incl longlife service, wheel refurb, full paint correction, brakes all round and lots of other things i thought id see how healthy the car is so called in my mate rhys on here so we could scan the car and also do some logs to see how healthy the car is.

well straight to the point lads, the car is ill and has been for a very long time. i shall not bother explaining what the car looks like inside and out as it will put you off your breakfast as rhys can testify to that.

what we found was that the MAF is dead as its only showing around 120-125 g/s and it should be around 160 g/s so we worked out that the power output is around 156hp which is not good, also found that the coolant temp sender seems to be faulty, aswel as numerous fault codes showing everything that is wrong. thankfully there doesnt seem to be an issue with boost leaks so all is good there.

the car needs alot more spent on it to get it remotely good but for now im looking at getting a MAF for him.

my question is how are the maf's changed, i have the Audi S4(2.7 Bi-Turbo) so its a different setup to mine as the maf is situtated in the engine cover itself isnt it? my maf comes as a whole seperately but cant see how the maf is taken off on the GTI. advice needed please lads if you dont mind.

Check the PCV system on the front of the engine.  take the pipe off the manifold and blow down it.

Not unless you have the following

All 4 alloys kerbed the full circumference of the wheel + white worm
Scrape down the drivers side
Dent in the boot
Rear wiper arm snapped off
Passenger window stich doesn't work
Drivers door switches doesn't work
Lost the remote key so using the spare; access to the boot via the rear seats
Absolutely stinking inside - half the beach is in it
Drivers door mirror glass stuck on
Scratches all over the car

And that's just the cosmetics

(p.s just heard from the garage - i need a turbo-to-intercooler pipe to fix the leak. asked him to call round for prices ad should be fixed by 5pm  )

rhys is spot on there, the cosmetics of the car are bloomin awfull i must admit, inside is the 3 tons of sand ingrained into the carpet which i shall be gettin at via front seats coming out so easy access to rears, the roof liner also has sand on it lol

once i get pics up of it you can all see how bad this golf really is. atleast the owner now has come to his senses now and realised how bad it really is.

ill get the pics up tonight or tomorrow so you can guys can discuss about whether this really is the worst golf you have seen(apart from the ones in the scrap yards)

MAF comes as a sensor only on the Mk5 - not the complete MAF unit as per the V6 S4/RS4. Security torx bit required from memory.

lost me a bit there mate, im not an Audi or VW mechanic but know my way around them as been driving these cars aswel as family over 15 years.

so its just a case of pulling the sensor out and replacing yes??
