Hi there, wondering if anyone can help me out with some brake advice.
My golf 1.8T recently had a cambelt failure and sat for 3 months while I decided what to do with it (I ended up repairing it, and it runs nicely now). During this time the brakes just sat and rusted and when i drove the car again they were pretty spongey (although they would get a bit fimrer if pumped repeatedly. So I replaced the pads, discs and (on the advice of my mechanic) calipers all round and set out to bleed them expecting it to be pretty straightforward.
Needless to say, this hasnt been the case. The rear right and front left brakes bleed well, but for the other two there is hardly any pressure in the system, and I cant get a firm pedal. It's just like prior to the new brakes, if you pump the pedal pressure builds up but then fades away.
I'm wondering if this is a problem with one of the seals in the master cylinder, but I've never done this before so was wondering if anyone knows better? Dont want to go buying a new master cylinder if I dont have to...
Any thought anyone?
