Peco big bore 2 on golf mk3?
« on: 24 May 2011, 21:55 »
hi all, i've remembered that i have a peco big bore 2 single exit back box in newish condition just knocking about and i was wondering if it would look and sound any good as at the moment i've got a twin exit with no back box that someone's made and it pop's and bangs on changing down. Hopefully the peco would stop this? Any advice welcomed. Cheers.

Peco = poor quality, I would not fit it tbh.

Try checking your timing, that could be a cause of the bangs rather then the zorst itself. Mine used to pop n bang then got the timing seen to and it's been fine ever since! It used to sound like a gun shot lol!

ok i'll check the timing and take it from there, the tail pipe's got a few holes in it so thought to replace it, just to add, the car seem's to be running a bit rich, would that be linked to the pop's and bangs then?

Yes as it's over fueling so letting unburnt fuel into the exhaust another thing to check it that the overun cut off valve is plugged in and working as this also cause popping and banging on de-acceleration.

If it is running rich, then as a 1st step replace the temp sender.

ahh to be fair it's in good nick, better than the twin i got on there at the moment. You dont see many golf's with a single exit backbox, may chuck it on for a laugh, fix my twin and sell it on.
