cheers jv we got there in the end lol

Right well i bought my satin silver 99 reg mk4 gti 1.8t 5dr about 2 months ago now.first ever golf but have previously had an audi a3 1.8t 3dr so familiar with the engine and the power.
so far I'm preferring the golf over the audi,i bought it with

mileage- 115,000 on the clock,
12 months road tax
years m.o.t
cam belt and water-pump changed at 106,000
new clutch 4000 miles ago
2 brand new bridgestone tyres at front
2 good falken tyres at the back
blue recaro interior ( heated fronts)
electric everything (windows/mirrors/sunroof)
stage 1 remap (need to get dyno'd for proof)
forge 007p re-curc valve
sports cat
lowered 35mm on fk lowering springs
GENUINE 18inch bbs ch's (8j at front 9j at rear)
climate control
car in mint condition apart from 2 small rust spots behind the front wheel mud-flaps

i paid £2000 for it which i thought was a result?
anyways here's a few pics of it when i first got it

list of things i wanna do first (will put a line through them once complete)

Exterior
give the whole car a good detailing session!
get alloy's refurb'd due to previous owner not avoiding curbs!
replace drivers wing mirror glass
repair broken petrol cap popper
re-spray both wing mirror cases
fit new front grill(one fitted now is cracked) + modify badge (or de-badge grill?)
fit new boot lock/handle casing (one fitted now has paint bubbling at edges)
de-badge bootlid
fit sharan badge to bootlid + colour code
repaint brake calipers from red to blue
fit chrome/clear wing indicator lenses

Interior
colour code dash air vents
colour code center console + radio/climate control trims
new gearknob
new steering wheel
new clocks/clock overlays/clock rings
blue/white interior lighting
spray engine cover/ airbox
smooth airbox
fit r32 intake parts
get the car dyno'd as previous owner couldn't prove stage 1 remap
stage 1 remap if not already done

plenty more to come, but these are the things i wanna address first, will keep the thread updated as and when i do anything further

first thing i done on the list was replace the drivers wing mirror glass, gave the car a good detailing session as it was filthy when i picked it up.i also bought a touch up stick from halfords to touch in a few chips on the front bumper and front wings.
nothing to special but here are some pics of the results.....

turned out really good, spent around 4 hours doing a quick wash/clay/polish/wax.will be going over it again in a month or so once i have the bodywork/trims all sorted out and back to how it should be.

the next thing i did was replace the 'rusted triangle' window piece on the rear drivers side door.

i picked up the new part from VW for around £7-8, and followed this guide to fit it -
http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?960833

i was just gonna take the rusty part out sand it then paint it satin black but for what it costs i'm glad i just got a new one, looks much better now

next up was to fit the clear/chrome wing indicator lenses i bought.

old indicator

new indicator

much nicer!
the indicators just pop out from the wings.tape up the end of a flat bladed screwdriver using electrical tape/selotape/masking tape, anything tape you can get ya hands on and being careful not to damage the paint, wedge the screwdriver between the indicator and wing and pry out.pull off the connector from the old indicator plug it on the new 1 and that! (use a small bead of clear silicone around the edges of the rubber seal on the connector to seal the unit to avoid condensation building up inside the indicator lens)

i really feel that the interior of my golf needs livening as i can't stand the aged wood effect look, so i decided i would colour code the center console/ashtray/radio trim/climate control trim and door handles.
before

after

i think i might have gone a bit o.t.t with the center console around the ashtray, was trying something different but it has been sprayed for around 3 weeks now and i'm thinking of getting a new part and keeping it black with just the ashtray cover silver lol.
it's not to everyones tastes but i like it
there is still a big list of things i wanna do to the interior and bits i wanna fit in like a new gearknob/steering wheel, boost gauge and loads of other stuff, will keep you posted

forgot to mention! after exactly 15 days of ownership i was dropping my dad off to his house and when i went to open the window with the electric switch the window dropped, and yes the window regulator was busted!happened around 8 o clock at night so i propped the window back in place with a few bits of card and tape on the inside overnight.a trip to euro car parts the following Sunday morning and £48 later i had a new regulator to fit.
if your mechanically minded this is fairly simple, but a bit fiddly to remove the door-card etc, as you can see it looks a bit daunting....

but its fairly simple if you take your time.
i bought a haynes manual for my car the day i bought it as they always come in handy and i always buy one for every car i've ever owned, there a godsend for stuff like this!
anyways long story short, 30 minutes later i had the new regulator in and the drivers window fully functional again.

got a bit of time off this week, so yesterday i gave the dub a wash

shiny satin silver mmmmmm

after giving the car a wash i thought i might aswell do an easy mod of removing the badges from the bootlid.
i was lucky as it was a hot day so all i had to do was prise off the badges with my hands and then remove any glue residue with some polish.
removing badges

job done!

after removing the badges i noticed some hidden scratch marks behind where the letters of the badges where so i used some meg's scratch x to remove what i could and then touched up the paint with a touch-up stick.
next up is the sharan badge mod and fit a de-badged front grill!

right well i haven't done anything on the golf for months! as i'm currently setting up my business and currently going through the steps of getting my motorbike license and yamaha r6 so all has been put on hold for a moment.
but i did find out when replacing the 2 front tyres last week that they don't have spigot rings fitted on the alloys! so ordered some up and waiting for there arrival.the back 2 wheels fit perfectly so don't need them on there.
i also discovered after talking to bbs that there not genuine ch's alloys, they are looking a bit tired and have decided to start looking for a new set of rims and maybe some coily's to drop her right on the floor for a propa dub look!
watch this space
