Tread Depth on new tyres
« on: 24 May 2011, 19:08 »
Just bought some new alloys and Continental tyres (235/35/19), when i went to put the tyres on i noticed there didnt look much tread for a new tyre on them so out came the tyre depth gauge .

6mm on all of them, i thought new tyres should have 8mm!! Have i been conned??.

Ive checked the tyres that came off my car and the fronts have 5mm and the rears have 7mm and they have covered 9k.

I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...

6mm seems low for new tyres

If they were new, they'd have the coloured lines on the thread?
