Ibiza Cupra
« on: 01 April 2005, 10:27 »
Hi, new to the site as i have crashed my seat ibiza cupra (1.8 20v turbo).

Basically i may buy my cupra back off the insurance depending on price! What sort of money would i be looking to get
if i sold it on...i know these engines are sought after for mk1/mk2 conversions.

The car was a Yreg with FSSH 47k on the clock i was the second owner. Here are some pics of the damage. Would be much appreciated
if you could tell me a figure what i should sell it for. Would sell it complete probably, doubt i would break it as i wouldnt know where to start to take an engine out lol.

These days the audi TT/S3 20vT's are much more sought after (bigger turbos) , and go from £1200 upwards. I was offered an mk4 golf 1.8T (same as yours basically) for £800 2 weeks ago, with loom, keys, clocks, driveshafts, gearbox etc. People may be put off by having to upick the loom themselves and remove everything if you sell it complete.. but on the up side they get all the interior and the good panels that are left.
If I was in your position, i'd take everything out of it that i wanted then, stick it on ebay with a reserve of what you buy it back for + £100 and see what happens.

Let me know a rough price too as i may know someone who is interested.

I wouldn't of said the damage was anywhere near severe enough to warrant breaking the car. It doesn't look like the inner wings should be damaged. Probably just need new wings, bonnet, front panels, lights, plastics etc and a bit of paint and off you go again.

You got any pics of your dad's split ?

I will probably be buying it back for 2200 off the insurance, sure they said thats roughly the price. Maybe a tad more they aren't 100% yet. All panels are in good condition. The front wings are fine also. To fix you would need

Radiators, fans, cross member bonnet, bumper, lights, dash, steering wheel, windscreen, maybe need a jcb to straighten, as the chassis leg MAYBE be slightly bent. Not much tho. Probably few other parts in and around that area.

Also forgot to say the car is in Scotland. Can email more pics if required.
