biggest killer on BOTH cars is rust.

MkII will always win for me just on looks.

Get the mot number check the mot history for the MkII and see what if any advisories its had over the last few years.

At least you know there are no issues with your present car.

You just need to give the other car a good check over, if you have already had three of them, bet you know most of the problem areas.

+1

imo mk2 wins on looks, though mk3's are starting to look very nice to me :lipsrsealed:
ide go have a look at the mk2, then just pretend you were offerd both the mk3 and the mk2, which would you go for?

Mk2 1.3 is the better car, Mk3 is a bit too heavy for a small capacity motor.

All depends on the condition though.

The 1.3 engine in the mk2 is nothing special either  :lipsrsealed: 4 speed box ftw!
Not low enough mk5
Not on the road enough mk3

Yeah, they will both be slow... but the 1.3 on carbs in a lighter car should be a little faster.

4 speed box is a bit of a downer though!

Saying that, my missus' 1.4 6n is quite quick... I don't know really.

hi everyone thanks for your replys  but my decision has been made for me the mk2 only has 2 months mot left so no matter how much i like the mk2 i think it would be silly to swap for my mk3 which i know is a good car and has 11 months mot left
