The average wasp in a bean can that hangs off the back off a corsa I would have thought even PC Plod would be able to tell is too loud. A lot of motorcyclists run un-Emarked race cans that have removable baffles, so I would hope so.

Depends who nicks you your run about town cop wouldn't have the knowledge to do anything but a jobsworth traffic cop will rape your bottom.
Do you reckon they'll tighten up on motorbikes then? As most of them are stupidly loud,

Coming into force in the next 12 months or so for motorbikes matey, also, if the police suspect yr running an exhaust thats too loud they can fine you for running an 'unsuitable for road use' car, if you say it passed the MOT like that then I guess its a case of your word against the MOT centres word  :embarassed: Think I know who the fuzz will be backing

Seems it come to collecting tax rather than any issue regarding safety.

Anything that gets knobheads with stupid/dangerous "mod's" off the road is fine with me. When it comes down to tuning a car to your own preference safely and the government feels that they can butt their nose in they can F-off.

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.

They would be shooting themselfs in the foot! How much is spent a year on tuning products including exhaust modification. They will be putting hundreds if not thousands of them out of buisness thus loosing out on taxes. Why can't I see this happening? What happened to this 2011 remapping rules? Nothing according to my friendly mot tester

I have an Art can on my bike, which yes it's loud at about 8000 rpm upwards, but some cars have stupidly loud exhausts at idle. I've always been a strong believer of loud pipes save lives on bikes (but that still didn't stop some drunken twit on a pushbike, riding out in front of me   ), due to us being smaller in stance than a car.

A storm in a teacup as usual.

MOT testers have had the power to fail a car deemed to be excessively noisey for donkeys' years. This isnt a new idea.

Our MOT chaps are yet to hear of most of the the nonsense quoted above.

Take a chill pill and stop worrying

BTW when is the last time a rozzer asked for a producer based on you having no cat installed?

That said I dont have to worry, I work at a car spares/garage/mot test station

I don't think a semi will give the same results

they do stop checks sometimes, or vosa do or something

being in the country i haven't seen or heard of this happening to anyone..
ahh the good life

accept i can't find a job

stop checks usually involve drink driving/road tax/tyre condition checks from my experience.

ah right fair enough!

every time i say something about decat in the mk4 section they keep saying about stopchecks

but like i said, i haven't a clue.
and your the mot tester guy after all

Not me! i just work with 3 testers and often help out like a trained monkey!

however being an MOT test station we have joe public often turn up with forms from the police suggesting they need said defects repaired and signed by a test station. Its mostly blown bulbs, never exhaust related.
