Boot lock opening?
« on: 22 May 2011, 13:37 »
Just discovered today that my boot doesn't open...
My key doesn't fit the lock so i'm assuming the boot was changed at some point, The boot used to open on the fob but i have now removed the alarm system completely since it packed up!

How would i go about getting back into my boot?
I look forward to your replies!

Put the back seats down from the inside and crawl through?

Climb in, at the lock mechanism to the right is what opens it, then remove the panel, my lock has siezed so this is how I get into the boot until I get time to fix it

Like a new barrel being made or something?

It should still lock unlock with the central locking mate. My key doesn't work either the barrel is siezed.

Was the boot on a separate button? If so it's prob had a solenoid fitted so would need put back to standard.

Could always get a lock and key from a scrappy. The lock barrel is removable irrc

Climb in yr boot armed with a pozi screwdriver and a torch, remove screw from centre of handle on the boot plinth and the plinth will then pull off. Bang in the middle behind the plinth is thin steel rod running top to bottom, pull it up and SHAZAM, the boot is open.
Like said before, source yaself a new barrel with key that works, remove the thin steel rod from the back of the button,  you then need to remove the push button and barrel as one, its held in by two clips on top of the button inside the boot that are a little awkward to get to, push the clips down and then the button out, reverse procedure to refit new button and put yr boot key on yr keyring
