I will be a mk5 owner in 1 week.
« on: 21 May 2011, 18:14 »
Just part ex my GT TDI Mk4 for a GT 170 mk5

I think I got a great deal, got it from a main agent.  black, 3dr, sunroof, Leather, 33k

The mk5 feels a good setup from the mk4, what a nice drive.  Cannot wait to pick it up

Was temped to put the price up, but looking in the mk5 sale section best not  :lipsrsealed:

So the only upgrade I want on it is DAB, can this be done on a 56 2006 Golf?????

Thanks
Jay

Terminate your order.  The GTI is the car to buy.  Not the vehicle you dismayed us all with.

Sorry lads, I wanted to feel the nice warm feeling of acceptance into the MK5 area before I let you down with the "it's a diesel" reply

Please let me in, it does abit look like a GTI (well from a distance of 200yards+)

I have just had a red Golf, ok a mk4 TDI.  I would love a mk5 GTI, alot near me for bargin prices BUT....  most days I do a 50miles round trip & sometimes I do 120mile round trip, I would be in the petrol station every other day

Not being too up on the mk5 GTI's  I was unsure about the 05/55 plates as they seem different to the later ones & have some issues??  is it true that

1. They have no roof aerial?
2. They had a steering rack issue?

Nothing wrong with a Mk5 GT170. Had one before the Mk6 GTi and it was a great car.

Although I went back to petrol with the GTI I wouldn't be put off buying a diesal again in the future.

The Mk5 was my first auto as well. Love the DSG and couldn't live without it.

nice one and welcome to the mk5 community,

here is something to consider http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/p/190800/1255284.aspx
i also have a few customers who have had this problem; i am letting you know this because the car you are buying may not qualify for warranty work @VW, but on the plus side Mk5's are excellent vehicle

Hey ukvolkswagger thanks for the advice

I am getting the car from Liverpool Volkswagen, so I will be getting the 1yr V-dub warranty with it  so apart from things like tyres I should be covered
