Crushed jacking points.
« on: 21 May 2011, 16:58 »
Hello,
Just bought a MK3 which needs lots of work, one of the main things is the jacking points
have been completely crushed to bits and the sills have seen better days due to this. Can these be replaced?
I'm assuming that if they can it's a welding job?

Thanks.

Jacking points will need to be welded. Common problem and most will have had it done at some point. As for the sills, I do believe you can replace them. Have a search as I think there was also a part number posted by someone not too long ago.

Same happened to mind just before christmas when i had a puncture

I had to weld new inner and outter sills both sides to the old girl. Very big job!

Sills are easily availble outter sills were about £30 per side. made up my own inner sills

Most body shops charge about £250 per side including parts

Hope this helps

Had my jacking points and some bongs done for £200.
Most important: bought a compact 2T jack in a case for £25 at machine mart + binned widow maker

Needs to be welded and can be a pain to sort as it depends how bad or how far the rust has spread
