Oil pressure low ?

Got a tappity 8v and been told it could be the oil pressure. How would I test it

Oil pressure gauge, fit as required to the side of the cylinder head and take a reading

i'll have to see if i can get one cheap somewhere but wouldnt know where to put it lol

Unscrew the oil pressure switch and fit the pressure guage via the adpator it comes with to that.
There are two, when you remove the oil pressure switch underneath it will be stamped what range that particular switch covers. Sure someone will confirm which one to attach it to

Have a look under the oil filler cap to see if there is any splash on the top end, if its dry you have issues,  but tappity top end is often caused by blockages in the feed to the lifters, so you might have good pressure to the rest of the engine.  I recommend an oil flush with a thiner oil if thats the case, often that will sort it.   Or you may have one or more knackard lifters,  a whole set is arround £30 on ebay.  Rare to have pressure problems on these engines.  Do you know if its just one or all the lifters tapping?

Bentley's say these engines are known to be tappetty at startup, should go within a minute or so.  Mine tappets some days (particularly if not been used for a few days), clears after 1 minute or less at > 2k rpm.
