induction kit

I'm trying to get a quote from admiral to add an induction kit to my 1.8t. Having not done this before their first reply was what is an induction kit, so I replied a modified air filter. They then replied "Can you please advise us what effect this will have on the performance of the car before we give you a quote."

What should I reply with so that they don't bend me over the table?

Just tell them it's a purer filtration system that has no effect on the driving of the car, only the air that enters the engine

To be honest, if it is one that suffers from heatsoak, you can tell them that there has been 5bhp and 12 ftlbs lost so may make it cheaper

excuse me for not knowing these things but what are the advantages and disadvantages of having a panel filter over an induction kit? I want it to sound good be good to my engine, but don't want dump valves etc. I really don't want to sound like Vin Deisel coming down the street.
