I'm 99.999999999% sure that no 140 PD TDI's had DPFs. These were only introduced with CR engines (with the exception of 170 PDs) and I'm pretty sure that there are no Mk5's with CR engines.

i thought that aswell

I've had some 140's with DPF's

Look at you turbo, do you have a normal looking exhaust pipe coming from it or does it look like a big silencer?

If your not sure take a pic and upload it.

I wanted to know this as well!

I have a 2007 GT TDI 170 and it was mapped by Awesome early this year, they said they couldn't re-map the CR but could re-map the DPF so I presume mine is a DPF? or whatever they are called!
2008 R32 DBP gone. 2008 GT TDI going 2009 GTI coming soon!

CR = Common rail engine
DPF = Diesel particulate filter.

Both CR and PD engines have a DPF in the 170 BHP versions

I can't see why they couldnt map a CR engine though  :huh:

How do you tell the difference between CR and DPF?

The Golf 140 pd diesel never ever ever ever ever came with the DPF, even on the later models, the only reason the 170 had it was to keep the emissions down due to increased power, the more fuel going into the system made more black crap out of the exhaust so VW put the diesel particulate filter on there.

they can map the DPF out.....so car doesn't do regen's all the time - only works if you do regular long journeys
or you will block up and never know.

risky ......i tried this but reverted back to std after my probs turned out to be temp sensor in exhaust

Bet you 2p they did  :grin:

Look up 140 PD GT SPORT DPF on google mate, they are rare but they are out there, more 2008 than any other - If I'm wrong I'll gladly pay you 2p - are you up for the challenge?

Just looked through 5 pages with the heading "mk5 golf 140pd dpf" but no hits as to the dpf on the 140pd, although other VAG cars do have it on the 140 and the 105 on the Audi A3...

This is off Elsawin the bible,  if you think the GOLF had a dpf on the 140pd then you need to speak to VW and tell the tech they should throw Elsawin in the bin.

Hope you can make sense of this but basically it is showing that only the 125Kw/170hp Golf had the DPF.

Darren :wink:
