thought i'd give it a clean, used a clay bar for the first time and autoglym polish, results are shocking close up!

Looking good man  Was the clay bar hard to use?
The headlights really suit the car too. I had the same ones but took them off, didn't really go with the colour. Looks great on a silver mk5 though
Not low enough mk5
Not on the road enough mk3

thanks

it was hard in the fact that some specs under the bump strip were persistent to not come off, and took about 3.5 hours alltogether start to finish. but generally using the bar is easy, you just spray on some sort of polish or clay bar specific product, and rub untill it slips easily.

the difference in touch is outstanding, before when you rubbed your hand on the paint it sounds like sanding a board of wood, now it's dead silent :)

That car is a 2.0 TDI.
But now looks like a GT sports.
Why not make it look like a Pirelli or ED30 as it's fully coloured in.

Nahh, a Gti is easier, as they look simular to start with. Ed30 and Pirelli has more road presence

it wasnt supposed to be a replica of anything  :undecided:, the rear bumper was colour coded as standard and the front had to be changed (the standard one is sh!te!) the grille looks crap without a badge and so it was either Gt or GT sport, and went for sport as it's not a 170.
then i had the bumper re-sprayed and asked them to do the splitter too.

i do get stick sometimes for 'trying to be a GTI' but the only GTI parts are the honeycombe grills.

But clean eh? lol

You've made a really nice job there. TBO I didn't even realize at first it wasn't a GTI until you posted the before shot ( not that you trying to produce a replica ).

I bet you've spent a few bob on the car?
