16v problem ?

Hello all iv got a 16v golf mk2 1988. Iv got a problem with it firing on number 2 cly. Changed plugs leads dis cap rotor arm but still won't fire on num cly. Done a compreshion cheak and all are fine. There is feul getting thro. But num 2 cly is not burning the feul coz the plug is get black and smells off petrol. And also there is oil in the dist cap. Might this av somthing to do with it? 
Anyone help please?

Search 'dizzy oil seal replacement'. Yes I reckon that's the first port of call for your problem...

you wont get an original seal which iirc are 12.5mm inner diameter, but what i did was get a 12mm from a seal and bearing supplier and it works fine. there is a pin on the bottom of the dizzy shaft you need to knock out to take apart the dizzy. whats your location btw? there maybe someone nearby who could let you try theirs?

Wait until you've sorted that, then if it persists come back. Should in theory be that though from the symptoms you have, and the parts you've replaced.

Also fit a new set of the correct type plugs, if you haven't already done so...

Have you taken every plug out and earthed it to the block? That should confirm you have electrical issues for sure or not. Non?

changed the plugs to the right ones to day gonna get a new bist tom fit that and see what happens.

ello all.
right the story so far.
fitted new dist unit new plugs leeds all is working fine all firing as it should press cheacked the pistons and all fine.
feul is fine.
but only running on 3clys still what hell can it be?????????????????????????? :cry:
