Shampooing seats...

Recently bought an 02 GTDI. Love the car. However, the state of the interior is getting on my OCD cleaning side. They arn't in a bad way by any means, just my OCD is telling me to shampoo them to get all the little hairs out! But I don't really have a scooby on where to start! Could anyone recommend any decent seats cleaning tekkers and some decent interior shampoo and equipment needed!

Would be greatly appreciated!

A friend of mine got his professionally cleaned and they looked brand new. I want mine doing cause I no matter what you buy or do you wont beat a professional with the proper equipment

Any rough ideas on how much to get your seats professionally cleaned? That maybe an option. It isn't pet hair, just like loads of dust and crap hanging out of them!

Could anyone offer any advice on if I were to do them my self?

roughly it would cost between £40-£50 to get them professionally done

or you could hire one of these http://rent.rugdoctor.com/ from a local DIY place or dry cleaners... benefit is that you can do your house at the same time - this will cost you about £25/day ish...

failing that... find someone with an extraction vacuum cleaner (George/Vax) and spray on G101 or similar with some Brisk low foam thrown in... wet (lightly) and agitate the upholstery and then extract as much dirty water as you can...  it does work as you will get water like this coming out

I think my friend paid £35 for his to be done and I must say it was money well spent. They looked brand new   

The good thing is now so many people are doing this kind of work so they undercut each other so you can end up with a fairly decent price.

And like the picture in Guys post you'd be surprised the amount of dirt that your seats hold and lets face it, no matter how much shampoo you put on and how hard you scrub you dont get that kind of results!

some better than others, the person doing the undercutting will only want to spend a short amount of time on it as possible

no, won't destroy them... will just make them very wet.. very very wet... and err... when they don't dry thoroughly... they'll smell, quite a bit!

Finally had them shampooed/cleaned professionally. Went on holiday, left it one of those off site car parks. Paid the £60 for the 'Platinum Valet' which came with the entire interior shampooed and polished etc...did a really great job. Seats/carpets look brand new!
I was originally going to pay £40 just to get the inside cleaned, so paid the extra £20 for the rest of the clean/wax and all the rest.

Get your interior shampooed people!!
