GSF - really genuine?
« on: 29 March 2005, 10:11 »
Just about to order a complete exhaust system for my 8V GTI.  As expected vw is expensive, I save about 1/3 if I get the parts from GSF.  The guy on the phone gives me the impression that I am getting the same parts cheaper.  I noticed on the online ordering two of the parts have (BQ) next to them, does anyone know what this stands for?  After doing a search on GSF I see that some guys feel that the quality has gone down recently.

Any opinions on whether I should spend the extra money, for the peace of mind of getting an actual genuine exhaust for a car that a plan to keep for quite a while or should I trust GSF more?

Nick

GSF are rubbish. I have bought plenty of stuff in the past that is marked genuine parts, however they certainly haven't been of dealer quality.
If you want to save money, go to Euro Car Parts, they are like the old German and Swedish before they turned sh!t.

Just to re-ignite the argument.
No offence intended to some people, but a lot of people won't really know if the parts are of sh!t quality or not.
This is a GSF genuine top mount for a mk2

This is a VW genuine top mount for a mk2

Anyone spot the difference?
I have seen too many parts of this sort of quality from GSF to convince me to steer clear.
Go to Euro Car Parts instead, highly recommended.

Oh?

I'm about to take my top mounts back to GSF cause they looked like the ones in the second picture whereas the ones on the car look like the ones in the first picture.

Now I'm confused!?!?!?!?!?!?

New mounts should look like the vw ones.
I've also got some bad mk3 top mounts as well

So you're saying my GSF top mounts are right cause they look like the ones in the second pic when fitted?

All the parts I have bought from GSF have been fine, and I have the common sense needed to know that a part is not the correct one, even if i have to compare it with the one I am replacing.

Some people may have had problems with GFS, I was just stating that I havent.
