Back home, left lights on was dead when I came back. Wouldn't jump/bump, waited for RAC who jumped it first time
Diesels don't bump generally as there is no spark.

Not to argumentitive but I've always found diesels an easy bump start. Dads old T4 used to bump easy even when cold when the starter went!
OK I was a bit vague. How about, totally dead dervs are harder to bump than a totally dead petrol due to the higher compression and need for hot glow plugs.

Well it worked, although cut out whilst idling!
Hmmmm, that shouldn't happen once started...
Hmm I've bump started dead dervs before. Obviously any modern car is a b!tch to bump start from completely flat though. New Corsas won't, the immobilizer won't let it. That being said, you are right it's flipping cold out there!
As for cutting out, ECU lost all it's MAP settings etc?
Shoulda posted up, I've got a hefty boost pack, assuming you were in Kent.
