What causes the pump to go noisy?

The rivets that seal it together go soft, then the pump splits allowing the air to escape when the pump runs which is the noise. Sounds like a diesel!! Replace the rivets with nuts and bolts as shown in the thread and resealed and all quiet again!!

Mine is noisy, but it doesn't give me a deisel sound. More like a loud whine sound.

Well when I can, I ought to take a look. I need to do my door modules first. At the moment, my car permanantly thinks my door is open.

Well just done the pump, 5 out of 6 rivets had led go! Just need to wait until she's cold enough for it to kick in.
Thanks loads for the help!
