Happened to my old mans golf. Dad bought the kit online for about £40 I think, as you have to buy the entire kit you cannot just buy the clips!
So we gave it ago today, couldn't undo 2 of the bolts of the lock as the instructions said to do, so we are having to take it to a garage. Got a quote for about £50 to do it. However we are supplying the kit with all part needed. I had a friend who was quoted £140 to get it fixed!

Good luck

take the door lock off? you dont need to just unplug it, its a bit awkward but possible with a allan key

first time you do it will take a couple hours, the guide it pretty good on ukmivs
at a garage an hour to hour and half and as said the kit is £40 on ebay and you also get the runners which means you dont have to mess around installing the cables
I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...

Gave it another go this morning without removing the lock as you said. It was awkward but we got the door card out. Instructions came online with the kit, wasn't too tough after I actually read them! When fitting it back in though the thing that pops the lock up came out...didn't have the time to sort this out today, so left it to my dad to try and do. But the window repair was quite easy!!

Good luck
