read in auto express about a product called Mergi supposed to decrease fuel consumption by 12% per tankful started using it yesterday so far slight de -crease in consumption no noticable  power gains yet. bottle £14.95 should treat 1.500 liters willl report if it does what it promises after a few more miles. read its been used by large boat companies for years to good effect

I'm always VERY dubious about claims like this. Don't you think that if you could add something to petrol that increased it's efficiency by 12% and cost only 1p a litre that the petrol companies would be all over it like a rash?

Surely you can get 12% by adjusting your driving style, having the correct tyre pressures, having services when due, turning off air conditioning, losing weight (not necessarily personally) and so on?

Yep, you are right and that is why claims for additives like this can be very subjective as a person only needs to alter their driving style to gain extra MPG. :smiley:
