HELP! - Brake problem - WTF!
« on: 13 May 2011, 11:02 »
Recently, while making a sharp U-turn (full lock) to the right, at about 10mph I lost my brakes!
Pedal went soft and completely pushed down to the floor. 2nd attempt at pushing the brake pedal immediatlely gave my brakes back again. Brakes were fine the rest of the way home. This morning, I reversed out my garage, on a slight downhill. Again my brake pedal went soft, but came back on 2nd attempt. Brakes then stay hard and pedal stays up like she is supposedto. Brakes were fine all the way to work.

Checked and there are no leaks on any of my caliper pistons.
No leaks on my brake fluid reservoir and fluid level is on MAX.
No leaks on my vacuum hoses.
Have not checked servo yet since she is a bit of a b!tch to get to - How do I go about checking the servo and it's hoses?

Any help would be appreciated!

Could be a master cylinder problem.

Yup, did turn out to be the seals busy going on the master cylinder - had a good run though - 17 years!
(Good way to test is to press down really slowly on the brake pedal and she will give way down to the floor).

Decided not to mess around and had the whole MC replaced and bled.
Now just to get used to NOT trying to fly through the windscreen everytime I touch the brake!)  :smug:
