VIN Plate missing :s ?

Evening all,

On cleaning my engine earlier on today iv noticed on opening the bonnet i seem to have a clear piece of plastic along the top rubber seal which looks like its to hold the VIN plate?..i noticed when purchasing the car a year and a half ago but forgot about it completelly until now!

Can someone clarify if this is what is ment to be sat benief this piece of see through plastic if so can i get hold of a replacment?

isnt the vin number pressed into the bodywork below that plastic? im sure its not actualy on a seperate plate? mind's gone blank and to dark to check mine atm lol

Should be on the body work below the plastic as stated above

As posted it should be stamped in the scuttle panel under the clear bit.
