Estimated BHP on my MK3 GTI?
« on: 12 May 2011, 21:09 »
Hi all, I own a MK3 GTI 2.0 16V 150bhp model, its got a cat back stainless steel system and a K&N air panel filter in the air box.
What sort of BHP do you all think that I am running?
Cheers
CJ

Probably about 150-155bp depending on service history.

145bhp to 155bhp

This.

All depends on how well the car has been looked after though.

We can't give you an answer, you'll have to take it on a RR (dyno)

An accurate RR though! Depending on the RR you go to you could see anywhere between 145bhp - 160bhp

I made 162hp & 145lbs/ft of torque during a clubgti meet at Garage streamline in London a few weeks ago - it's known as being quite a tough/accurate dyno - it made this with cat back Jetex exhaust, Airbox mods, Pipercross filter and aftermarket chip.

So I would say around 155hp would be a very good guess - de-cat has been reported to make next to no difference to power output, but can change the feel of the engine (snappier)

The GTI badge alone should give your car at least 350bhp by default.
