is he insured though, if i traced him could i claim on his insurance and not touch mine???

might be able to get a new bumper and trim out of it??

Exactly, and if he isnt insured the old bill will take his car off him and thats one other uninsured motor off the road.

When I contacted the police after a similar incident, I was given a producer and then threatened with court action when several months later they hadnt got a record of me producing my docs (even though I had). Meanwhile, I had received another letter stating that there wasnt enough evidence (despite photos, witnesses and a smashed windscreen) to persue the case any further!

I would sort this out your own way mate, the police are a joke!!

If you try to make a claim from his insurance your insurance company have to get involved and that will cost you your no claims or a percentage of it.Similar thing happened to me,bumper got ripped off.Police asked how much it would cost (about £25) and explained the NCB thing. It was cheaper to grunt and bear it.

So basically despite it not being your fault in any way, shape or form they still want it to affect your NCB? This sounds like the insurance company ripping people off. Noooo, surly not?
