Hi

Just got my hands on a pipercross panel air filter.

Are there any guides how to fit it?

Sorry if this has been posted before

I fitting a pipercross only 2 months ago, very happy def pulls a bit better, well worth it. Every trinket helps pull you along that bit quicker!

One word, pain in the A*SE unless you have some patience and follow the simple guides. First things first the hardest bit is getting off the engine cover, after that it takes 5 minutes. I used the following link in order to prepare the removal of the engine cover:

http://www.swankmonkey.com/vw/jetta/2006/remove_engine_cover/

The engine cover is on very tight but be gently with it as it can snap very easily. Best tip I got was to use a big adjustable wrench and lever it against the battery cover on top of a wrag to stop anything getting scratched. It will take some effort but lever the the wrench under the intake pipe as this is the thickest bit of the cover and shouldnt snap. Keep levering and teasing and after 10 or so minutes should pop off. Be patient it will eventually do it.

Once the thing is off, lay it on a towel or something soft to stop it getting scratched. Turn it upside down, clamp off and undue the intake pipe to allow the air filter box to be opened then all you have to do is undue the screws that hold the engine cover together (these do not come out, just come loose). Open her up, take out the filter, put in the new one, pop it all back together in reverse, job done.

Hope this helps.

P.s. There are lots of other guides how to do this and a step by step guide once the engine cover is off, but I cant find it.

Good luck!!!
