I agree. I looked at moving to a GT2871R and even bought the turbo kit off Johnny Cocker, but decided against fitting it as almost all the USA threads gave similar outputs to a K04, but with added lag. It was only the dedicated few who installed internals that went on to give more bhp than a K04.

yea i know what your saying. i was going to get some new rods and pistons.  i dont want my bwa engine throwing a rod

Here's a couple of graphs I did of a K04 V a GT2871R. The area under the graphs are the important bits. The green shaded bits are where the K04 has the advantage and the blue bits are where the GT2871R has the advantage. As you can see the green areas are bigger than the blue ones and so the advantage in the low to mid range sits clearly with the K04. At the top end the GT2871R has the advantage, but how long do you really spend in that range at full throttle?

I managed 383bhp on stage 2+ and then 440bhp including nitrous injection .
