Hi,

I'm a newbie to the scene aswell. I bought my 16v gti about 3 months ago. It's a '95 3dr in mystic blue. FSH and only done 70k. I got it for £2.7 and although it's not mint i think that was a good deal.
There's loads out there so you shouldn't be hard pushed to find a good one.

Good luck !

Andy.

My green Golf GTI 16v 3 door M reg 67,400 miles, FULL service, nearly new dampers, virtually mint condition, loads of receipts, but sunroof slide mechanism gone, and new anti-roll bar bush required when I bought it.

...all for £1,800! ...and from a trader! (he just sells ex-lease mk4 Golf's and Audi A3's, took it as a trade-in and sold it to me at same price). Would have preferred a different colour, but for the price I couldn't grumble.

I reckon I would be able find a car like that in the North West for £2,300

good deal!

i'll just take a good look at parkers.. i paid £4,500 for mine in october 2003 at the time it was a bargain.. the going rate back then was 6,000 for one in as good nick.

for today parkers says..

Franchised Dealer  £ 3700
Independent Dealer  £ 3465
Private Good  £ 2885
Private Poor  £ 2205
Part Exchange  £ 2545

for a 5 door..

Franchised Dealer  £ 3875
Independent Dealer  £ 3630
Private Good  £ 3025
Private Poor  £ 2310
Part Exchange  £ 2665

so i'd say anywhere between 2,500 and 3,00 for one in good nick.. forget dealers...

here are prices for an anniversary.. only slightly higher..

Franchised Dealer  £ 3770
Independent Dealer  £ 3530
Private Good  £ 2940
Private Poor  £ 2245
Part Exchange  £ 2595

last summer the dealers next door to where i work had a anniversary marked up at 6,500 and it sat there for months and months.. its gone now and i think i've seen it being driven around locally
