gearbox speedo urgent help needed

the bolt that holds my speedo cable into the gearbox will not do up the thread inside the box must be stripped any ideas how i can over come this problem as im loosing gear box fluid

Try a longer bolt

cant as its a sealed hole if that makes sense??
cant make the bolt any longer??
is there a way of making the hole wider for a fatter bolt to be used??

Won't be easy, but drill and tap the hole for a M8 bolt.

any ideas where i can get a sort enough m8 bolt from??the only ones i have found are twice as long as normal bolt, dont think it will take much taping as the m8 almost fits in there now, it kinda half bites then falls out.
ne one near basingstoke who could do this for me??

Rik, I had that problem once and although this sounds like a gash repair, it did work a treat. Get the next diameter up bolt, grind a 'lead' on it (I just ground 2 flats on the end of the bolt) and wind it into the hole. The bolt is steel, the gearbox is aluminium so it will cut its own thread quite easily. If you have a bolt that is too long then simply cut it down.

Ideally, if you have a plug tap that would be the proper way to cut the thread. I have one if you want to pop over, I'll do it for you. Also have spare bolts that I can use

How can they accuse you having cheap sh@t when they are driving a Saxo and Clio............the mind boggles
